Welcome
My name is John Driscoll, and I am a systems architect specialising in the LAMP (Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL) environment, object oriented PHP 5 and advanced aspects of the MySQL RDBMS.
Professional
I am currently employed as a systems developer in central London.
Personal
In my personal time I maintain three rack servers and a number of virtual server instances. These are used to run the company JDDLan.com LTD which primarily sells Internet Radio hosting.
Just For Fun
Occasionally I offer my skills to friends... You can see some of the results below:
-
John2Land.co.uk - View the site of Simon Towers and friends as they travel
from John O Groats to Lands' End by bike, in aid of Cancer Research and CLIC.
For this site, Simon devised the layout, graphics and look and feel. I assisted with the PHP code which powers the hit counter, visitor comments system, and a WAP site which allowed the riders to log the date and time they hit each checkpoint along the way. -
JuniperDining.co.uk - A delicious new restaurant opened recently in Finsbury Park.
A graphic designer friend of mine asked if I could help them host a website they were working on. I created a virtual machine server instance (Scientific Linux) and loaded it with an FTP server (PureFTPD), web server (Apache) and scripting language (PHP). I also supplied him with a number of email addresses, hosted on my custom built mail server.
